Margie Kellam

Margie Kellam is a self taught artist who feels her art is a special gift from God.  Drawing has always been a favorite pastime.  Using her art in her profession of teaching elementary school was very natural way to express her self and enhance learnin

 

Since retiring she has renewed her interest through sketching old homesteads and landmarks.  Her sketches of Highlands’s landmarks, such as Highlands Inn, are in the form of boxed cards and can be purchased at the Macon County Art Association’s Uptown Gallery as well as The Dry Sink in Highlands.

 

She has had many commissions for portraits of homes as well as other establishments. 

Margie also featured in the Winter Holiday 1999 edition of Mountain Ideals, a local Macon County magazine.  Recently while on a church mission trip, she had the opportunity to paint a wall mural in Toulouse, France.  She is a member of the Macon County Art Association, Inc. and the North Georgia Art Guild.

 

Margie has dabbled in oils, acrylics, pen and ink, and recently developed an interest in pastels.  She is excited about creating colorful drawings with the soft, subtle hues made possible with this “new Medium. Field and Tree Sketch
